Stubborn Woman
A song from another life re-emerges
My extremely talented and resourceful son, the composer J.S. Hopkins, rescued this recording from an ancient cassette copy and remastered it into something that sounds as good as, if not better than, the original studio master. The song will be featured on the upcoming Biff Thuringer vinyl release, Creepin’ Jesus. It brings me far, far back to a time, in my early twenties, when I was a struggling husband and father, working for Albany County DSS as a social welfare housing specialist, realizing that I’d voluntarily surrendered to a life for which I was fundamentally ill-suited. Making this series of recordings was the first of many steps I took over the next 15 years to extricate myself from artistic and spiritual purgatory. The yearning expressed here still hurts like a bitch. Enjoy!
